Unit of Inquiry - Experiments about Energy

Learning about Energy

This week we are continuing our unit about energy. We learned about our many forms of energy throughout the week, and taught our friends about the type of energy we became experts in. Once we had learned about the many types, it was time to learn about what energy looks like in action, and to start putting our new knowledge to the test.

Home Experiment

Since we have done experiments before in class, we already know a lot about how to be good scientists. So to practice for our many experiments at school on friday we practiced an easy experiment at home first! Here is a video sent in by one of our friends!

School Experiments

At school on Friday, first thing in the morning, we made our way up to the gym to try out 4 different experiments!

Marbles on a skateboard

Dropping a ball from different heights

Dominoes

Bouncing a small ball of a big ball

After we finished all our experiments we came back to class and discussed what we had seen, and what we learned about mechanical, potential, and kinetic energy.

A Regular Week At School

Just Another Week

Last week was our first week back in the class, which meant we had to learn a lot of new things, and adjust to our new rules. However, this week, things felt more like normal, and we were able to have fun, learn and play all week!

We fixed our classroom tables

All on our own we decided to fix the wobbly wooden tables we have been using. We asked to get the toolbox from the teachers room, and with Ms. Hannah's help, we got to screwing in new screws, replacing old screws, and tightening everything!

Grade 6 taught us many new things

Grade 6 is creating presentations about many things that affect us as students, including sleeping, bullying, black lives matter, and more! Almost every day this week they came and taught us new things. It is fun to know what one day we will be doing!

We have fun at lunch!
Because we do not want to spend too much time mixing with other students, we have been spending our lunch time in our classroom. At first it was a little difficult to figure out what to do with our time, but this week we really started to have fun with new games, new toys, and new ideas!

Let's have fun next week too!

Welcome Back to School!

 Welcome Back!

After spending 3 months having classes over Zoom, it is very exciting for us all to be back in the class! Now that we are in grade 4 we have a new classroom, new teacher, and new rules! Every day we try to stay safe and have fun! Here is a preview of what our new day looks like!

The Classroom

This year grade 4 has moved to last year's grade 5 classroom. In our class we have many area for the different subjects we have!

Class Time

Although we take precautions like wearing masks, washing hands, and cleaning the class multiple times a day, we still spend much of class time working together to help each other learn, as well as spending times at our desk learning by ourselves.

End of School

Although we wash our hands, wash our tables and desks, and generally work hard to keep our class clean, at the end of each day we spend time cleaning our classroom from top to bottom. We sweep, wash, and tidy our classroom to perfection!

Overall this week we have tried hard to adjust back to our lives at school. Let's hope it's even better next week!
