Captains Log 3,4,5:

Hi everyone! Sorry the blog is a little over due but here is an overview of what has been going on the past couple weeks as well as some updates.

First of all, thanks to everyone who came to the family picnic, it was super fun! It was great to meet everyone. Hope you had a great golden week!

Coming up:
Wednesday May 20th, special guests from the university to be interviewed by the students about their icons from the past.
This Friday is free dress for everyone.
Next Week is Literacy Week, there will be an email going out with more information soon!

Students dressed up as the icon they researched over golden week. Great costumes !

In math we have been working on place value, both in very large numbers and very small numbers including decimals. We have also been looking at the correlation between decimals, mixed numbers and fractions.

In English we have been reading Wonder and comparing the print version to the movie version.

One day in math we (I) was stumped by a question and the class were inquirers and asked Mr. Ugur for help
Library time in the library that we helped set up!
Family picnic!

In art we tried our hand at iconic figures portrait art. The students picked an iconic figure and tried to draw a portrait.

In unit of inquiry the students have been doing lots of research about iconic figures and gave a group presentation about their icons.

The students gave a math place value presentation for the grade 1.
Student council delivering important information to the class.
Presentation for the grade 3 class as well.

First assembly of the month. The character trait we were learning about here is "communicator"
