 Term 1 Blog

Unit 1 - Who We Are

Central Idea - Iconic figures have an impact on our lives.

Grade 4 started the year by looking at “iconic figures”, people who have had impacts on our lives in a variety of ways. We looked at the famous author Roald Dahl, used the school library to explore a variety of famous figures in art, science and politics, and then completed the unit by researching a chosen figure and making a presentation about them to the class.

Unit 2 - How The World Works

Central Idea - Energy can be converted and stored in different ways.

For the second unit of the year we investigated energy, how to group and classify different kinds of energy, how it can be stored in different physical and potential states, and how energy is transformed between these states in our everyday lives. We watched documentaries, performed experiments, and wrote about the way everyday objects store and transform energy.
